I've installed Apache Spark on my mac to build and debug PySpark code locally. However, in my PySpark code I need to read an avro file into a dataframe and use spark-avro package. I am using spark-submit to source spark-avro from the Internet and run my code. It works fine:
But I need the spark-avro package to be sourced directly from my mac. I found the spark-avro jar on -packages.org/package/databricks/spark-avro: spark-avro_2.11-4.0.0.jar and saved it in a local directory on my mac.

Note that from now on we are using kafka-avro-console-producer instead of kafka-console-producer which has few additional properties like --property value.schema='"type":"record","name":"AvroWithoutKey","fields":["name":"foo","type":"string"]' messages published via this consumer will be validated against given schema. Also note that this producer does not show > symbol, so do not wait for it.
Note that usually in avro schema you defining properties like "name": "foo", "type": "string" where type is usually primitive string with type name, for datagen we are describing type as object with additional arg.properties

To install Iris, simply move the tarfile to a directory where you would like to store the software (e.g., in the Applications folder on a Mac), and unpack the tarfile with the appropriate Unix 'tar' command.
